[Dailydrool] Exercise for young bassets

All our hounds are now seniors, but we have had a number of fosters who were
in that year, year and a half range that requires so much exercise.
Our most challenging hound, Oliver, was a real live wire. I just couldn't
get him enough exercise on leash. Fortunately, a neighbor whom we barely
knew had a fenced yard and a young lab mix. Maggie and Oliver had play dates
a few times a week that really wore out our little basset. Oliver could
hardly keep up with Maggie, but he had the best time in the world trying.
If you can't find a neighbor with such a situation and if you have a fenced
yard, how about fostering? It's all the fun of having another dog without
most of the expense.
Alternatively, perhaps you can convince whoever is in charge of the dog park
that it needs to be fully enclosed. If expense is a problem, perhaps you can
help raise the money to complete the project. I'd think that the close call
is enough to give you the right to suggest this change.
I hope all works out with Molly.
