[Dailydrool] crate rest ...an idea that worked for me

when buster who HATED crates need crate rest i was stuck..and i was already using 1 crate for sally the new puppy & 1 for lowla the foster & juggling everyone..

.i borrowed a crate from the people i dog sit for...they have sophie the bernese mountain dog.  her crate is HUGE. (gotta be a size XL)  i put it in the living room...near the front door...when it was open he could sit there & watch out to the street & still bark out & torment all the dared to walk by...he had lowla's gigantic dog bed mattress inside it (a blessing really because actually we all tripped over it anyway & there was no place else for it)...he seemed to think it was his own little castle...at night he willingly went inside it & slept..i would toss in marrow bones, rawhides, toys, whatever..& he was content to stay inside...  in fact he would come out for a bit & sally & lowla would jostle their way inside...

was it a perfect set up..no..stored mail on top of it, all sorts of stuff..tripped on it, everything  but he had room, he was happy & didn't argue about going inside (this was a dog who damned near killed himself being left inside one before i adopted him at another home..so this was a big thing)...

so maybe find someone who has a gigantic dog and ask if they still have their old puppy crate you can borrow...
