[Dailydrool] Thyroid bloodwork and meds

When Abner was diagnosed as being hypothyroid, his bloodwork was not all
that far off. My vet told me it was kind of borderline. Some vets would give
medication, he said, some wouldn't. He more or less left the choice up to
me. Since Abner was also showing signs of aggression and skin problems, I
voted to put him on the thyroid medication. It's not expensive and as far as
I can tell has done him no harm.
If you go to another vet, you may get a different opinion on medication,
based on that vet's attitude towards it. I think that if you like your vet,
you might have a chat about this subject. If Penny is really doing quite
well, maybe you don't need to do medication at this time. But you might
rerun the bloodwork in a while, based on your vet's recommendation for
timing. Usually thyroid tests are done every year, so maybe a year from now?
That's my advice, and nothing more, since I am not a vet.
