Not saying that these are the cause but other causes of hypoglycemia (although his is low normal) are;
Insulinomas, Glycogen Storage Disease, Addison's, Severe Liver Disease (but the rest of the bld was normal so probably not liver dz) 

Other signs to observe for: 
Loss of appetite
Extreme lethargy
Incoordination
Trembling
Muscular twitching
Weakness
Seizures
Unusual behavior
Dilated pupils
Apparent blindness
Stupor or coma

Of course I'm just going on what I know from what you have said and don't have the full bloodwork etc but those were just somethings that sprung to mind.  
Hope things come out okay :) Poor little Charlie.
