My main concern is that most food is obtained from the grocery store and therefore there is a greater risk of Salmonella.  Although the dog might not get sick from this it will be in the feces and humans could be exposed as well.  I have an owner whose husband goes hunting frequently and gets fresh meat, although we did discuss the risk of parasites in the muscle of wild animals as well.  
So my official vote is no.
