We have used pet doors for many years, all different types, and they've all
worked fine for us.  But we are in Texas, and do not get really cold weather
like you get in the northern areas of the country.  One thing I would advise
though, is shop around.  We replaced our old pet door about a year ago,
Gracie is a little bit chunky in the middle and got stuck in the old,
smaller door, so we put in a nice large one.  Anyway, I found Petsmart and
Petco to be the most expensive, Home Depot was a lot cheaper, and Lowe's was
the cheapest -- and it was the same door by the same manufacturer.  I
believe we saved approximately $40 by buying from Lowe's versus Petsmart, so
shop around before you buy.
