Get better drool to Bubba's boxer buddy Axel.
Beverly is 100% correct on the overheating of animals. This is a true emergency situation, the same as it is for humans. Over heating can lead to heat stress, to heat stroke to death! The vital organs will start to shut down...There is no reason for a dog with a responsible owner to go like this. Please, Please keep an eye on your dogs and be very careful. Overheating will happen even quicker in an over weight hound. You can also tie a wet bandana around the neck of the dog or cooling bandanas or fabric neckbands filled with water-absorbing crystals help in keeping a hound cool...but you must keep a close eye on them. Keeping your dog brushed also helps by getting rid of all the dead fur and therefur thinning out the fur coat. I hear it every year of someone going out and walking or running with their dogs an the dog goes to the bridge due to overheating. This will happen faster in a dog then it will a human. I know you all know this but it is something that is worth repeating and stressing! One hound saved is worth it. For me if I can go outside and walk around the yard for 5 minutes and I start sweating then it is to hot to walk the hounds. I also give the boys ice cubes after a short summer walk or when they come in from yard patrol to cool them down.

Post surgery recovery drool to Delta Burke. We hope that your stiches heal up & your coat come back nice and fluffy.
