So after a slew of tests including pancreatitis testing, xrays of both the
stomach and lungs, a full blood test workup, and an ultrasound and a stool
sample - the vets were unable to determine exactly what has been wreaking
havoc on my boy.

He began showing some minor turn-around on Wednesday and we got our first
howl last night, after 5 long, silent days. He is showing more interest in
food, but isnt too thrilled with his chicken/rice puree that I am feeding
him. We are doing at-home sub-q fluids until he is drinking on his own and
ultimately I think the rehydration has made the biggest difference in his
recovery. He is still pretty pooped, but finally getting some sleep after
several days of none. Last night he even got a burst of energy, trying to
wrestle with his brother and begging me to chase him around the house in a
basset 500. Unfortunately for him, we are being told to keep him calm, (HA!)
and therefore he hasnt gotten walks or the "chase" that he desires. Today he
has mainly just laid around, sunnign himself and catching up on his sleep.

So while we are very happy to see him on his way to recovery, we are still
wary of what caused his pain. For now the diagnosis I was given is
gastroenteritis, pretty general, but at least I have something to submit to
the insurance co.

Anyway, thank you so much to everyone for their warm thoughts, prayers,
concern, advice, information and DROOL. We appreciate it all, more than we
can say!

Love, peace and drool to all,
Kacy with Cowboy and Rupert
