So very sorry you are dealing with this kind of thing with Higgins with a vet you have no confidence in.  Bassets not prone to bloating???  And "Where should I listen to hear stomach sounds?"  Good Lord, how did she get out of vet school?  Hopefully by now the reason for all this has been discovered and treated and he is feeling better.
