Many many thanks to all who sent wishes and expressed concern for Chumley.
The digestive/bleeding problem turned out to be nothing major, he
continued to bleed a little for a while, but got some IV fluids and
antibiotics, and some prescription pill form of what I take to be
pepto-bismo. He's been known to eat thorns before, perhaps that is what
caused the problem. He's fine as far as that goes, with the only
lingering problem being that all the hounds want that food that comes out
of the can. It's supposed to be bland, but obviously it's way better than
kibble.

Chumley's Panosteitis is a bigger problem. The little guy couldn't put
any weight on a back leg for a few days, and continues to limp a bit. It
was sad to see him hurt so much he didn't want to eat. At first he was on
Tramadol for the pain because they didn't want to upset his stomach with
NSAID's, and it really knocked him out without doing too much for the leg
pain. Now he's getting Rimadyl, and either that's working well, or the
Pano is subsiding, or both. I heard him bark yesterday for the first time
in a week or so, as he tried to get Uncle Alfie to play.

I hope this subsides soon, it's really sad to see a goofy puppy limping
around like an old man.

As all this has been going on, I've been struck by how much it hurts me,
and how minor it is compared to what so many of you are going through.
Chumley, Ginger, and Alfie the Wonder Beagle are all getting little
tidbits of cheese, doing their best to send drool out to all who are
hurting in body and spirit.

Peace, Al
