Hi I'm Dana, mom to three beautiful basset's.  Tuffy, named after Tuff Hedeman, she was a rescue noone wanted because of small hernia so breeding wasn't recommended; Gus Gus, named after Augustus McCrae from Lonesome Dove, my only boy and my only purchased hound and Peach, poor Peaches was found lying in 2 foot tall grass in an empty rent house, her AKC papers laying in the kitchen floor.  Peach is quite a bit smaller, I believe from her lack of nutrition during her major growth period, but she has a typical happy go lucky basset personality.

So I'm writing for two issues.  Both pertain to Gus Gus - I freely admit to spoiling him rotten, he was 8 weeks when I got him and will be one year this month.  He is definitely momma's big boy.  But he has developed serious toy and treat issues!  He'll gather all treats or toys and lay on them so that the other bassets can't get to them.  He has also taken to being quite aggressive with Peach, she's only been here a month now and even though is quite a bit older than him, she is quite a bit smaller as well.

Second with Gus Gus - his ribs seem to cave in then out, more noticeably on one side than the other.  Doesn't seem to bother him and at his initial check up with Doc he said it was different but to wait and see.  After more research I think Gus Gus may have come from a puppy farm due to my naivete.  I've never purchased a dog before and thought they seemed so sincere.  My husband thought maybe it was a mild birth defect or a growth issue he will "grow into".

Any thoughts or advice?
