[Dailydrool] Bassets and that stupid dog intelligence test

While browsing through the "Think Geek: Stuff for Smart Masses" web
site, I came across the page for interactive intelligence games for
dogs. I was really pleased to read the following in the product
description section:

"We have a bone to pick with dog intelligence tests. Here's how the
normal test goes: Tester throws a towel over the dog's head. Tester
times how long it takes for the dog to throw the towel off.
Apparently on this test, Poodles were #1 and Basset Hounds were
ranked the stupidest. Having owned a Basset Hound, one of our monkeys
heartily disagrees. Basset Hounds, she says, aren't stupid, they're
LAZY. If a towel over the head isn't conflicting with the nap in
progress, a Basset Hound has no incentive to remove the towel. On the
other side of the spectrum, it could be argued that Poodles aren't
smart, just very high strung. . . . if someone has both a Poodle and
a Basset Hound, we'd like to know who is REALLY smarter in a battle
of Interactive Intelligence Games!"

To read it for yourself, go to http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/

I was really tickled to see a public refutation of that stupid
intelligence test and bassets' undeserved low score on it.
