[Dailydrool] Belly rub gone bad

We had  a newsflash in our area a couple years ago...it seems a vet's office also kennels dogs and a family left their beloved dog with the vet.  One afternoon the dog was outside in the play area when a hawk scooped down and grabbed the chihuahua out of the yard and flew away with the dog in it's talons.  The vet was so upset and said the phone call to the vacationing family was one of the hardest calls he's ever had to make.

In the same vein, a family was vacationing in Alaska a while back when a large bird (eagle I think) actually grabbed a very small dog out of the arms of the owner.  They interviewed the hysterical woman who was in disbelief that it had actually happened to her dog.

Wild stories but life is sometimes weirder than fiction.

I'm so glad your basset was too large to be swept away by that hawk. We have a hawk that lives in our woods and sits atop a light pole in our back yard...we've often wondered whether it would attack a basset-I guess we know the answer now, huh?
