[Dailydrool] Tapeworm Question

Houston, we have a flea problem...

All five dogs were bathed this weekend and got their new dose of flea
meds.

I found fleas, while bathing, 2 out of 5 dogs.  

I also found fleas on my cats a few weeks ago and they are now treated.

I spent the past 3 days washing bedding, spraying rugs and treating the
animals. I keep finding fleas.
When we are outside, the grass is dead completely from it being so dry.
I literally watched a flea jump onto Sophie's belly as she rolled over
for a belly rub.  This is after flea meds are on.  

SO - Monday night as we sat by a fire, I saw a white thing on the edge
of Apollo's butt.

The DH goes, oh he has drool on his butt.  No hon...its fregging moving.

A few hours later, I see another one.  *#&%)$#@*&%.

Stool sample off to the vet.  I give a description.  The tech goes, do
you have a flea problem.
Ah, Yeah, for the first time ever.  Probably tapeworms because of fleas.
*&#%@)(*%&@*.  Probably won't show in the stool sample.
Yes, they were right.  Stool sample negative.  Getting worm meds anyway.

My question...

If the stool samples are going to be negative because tapeworms pass
quickly, would it be beneficial for me to just go to Petsmart and get
some OTC worm meds for all the dogs as a safety precaution?

I haven't seen anything on the rest of the gang, but ok, I am paranoid
now and inspecting everyone's butt hole every minute I'm home.
Yes, I need to get a better hobby... :-)
