Pw. Xandy Bear continuing her tale. Once Huggie Bear entered our family, the condo felt a bit small so I commanded that the blondeslave find a more suitable Castle for us. She finally settled upon a lovely home in the country with a huge yard which we were to move into in December??? Who moves in December, in ten inches of snow, driving with 2 hounds in a Nissan 300Z on a trip which ordinarily takes a half hour but took an hour and a half on moving day? She’s not called the blondeslave for nothin’. Good planning skills-NOT. Anyway, we DID get moved in and settled down to enjoy the country life(or as the dadslave who lived all his life in an apartment in NY called it, “living in the wilds of upstate NY”). For dog’s sake, we’re less than 5 minutes from Walmart-barely over the NJ border. Now that we had a new home we could spread out and figure out what we would do to raise pledges for the next Waddle that spring. While we were moving the blondeslave found a box of cookbooks she helped write when she was a fitness instructor(yeah, I find it hard to believe too). Anyway we traded the cookbooks for pledges that year. We did well, but that wasn’t the biggest surprise for that year’s Waddle. The blondeslave saw a picture of great big oh so handsome, smooshable 6 year old Bud who had been picked up as a stray and although his people were found they didn’t want him anymore so he ended up in rescue. The blondeslave fell ”fanny ovah ears” for him(phrase borrowed from Lila June). She showed the picture to the dadslave who agreed after some convincing that we could foster him. After some more discussion and additional convincing they agreed that the best way to avoid flunking fostering this time would be to simply go ahead and adopt Bud who became the 3rd Bear, my big brother Moosie Bear. We picked him up at the Waddle and the rest is history. Moosie adored me (who wouldn’t) but he came with some sizable baggage. Who knew a basset would bite? There was a period of adjustment. The slaves went into training to learn Moosie’s triggers and how to manage them. After the dadslave was bitten the second time the blondeslave wasn’t sure what to do but the dadslave declared that Moosie Bear had found his forever home and that was that. The 3 Bears story next.
