Sounds to me like the kennels you got the female from is more like a
backyard puppy mill. I wonder if they should be investigated. I can't think
that a dog coming from a reputable breeder would be in this horrible kind of
shape. Scared, yes, I think some of that is to be expected going to a
strange new place. But so filthy & petrified? Sounds to me like horrible
abuse. Probably kept in a little kennel & never let out. I can't even begin
to tell you how angry that makes me. Thank you for saying she'll never go
back there. My Pongo had come from horrible circumstances like that, but he
had been worked with for awhile before I got him. I'm sure some of the
droolers will have good advice for you, and I'd say talk to your vet and see
if they can recommend someone to help you. It will take time and a lot of
patience, but I think a wonderful new home and a lot of love can save her.
