Here I come out of lurk mode to tell you about today's calendar Bassets.

Today we celebrate my fifth "new birthday."  That is, five years ago today I received a bone marrow transplant for treatment of non-Hodgkins lymphoma.  After five years, one is considered clear and cured!

My kids, pictured here, were certainly a big part of my recovery process, my own personal therapy dogs!  (The best thing about it was I was forbidden by doctor's orders to pick up poop after I got home!)  Lizzy (Rivendell's Sun Kissed, whelped 6/1/00) and Darcy (Rivendell Sanlyn Postage Due, whelped 3/23/01) are the lights of my life.  (Thank you, Grandma Chris!)  They will be pampered for the next two weeks by our son Chris as he house- and dog-sits for us while we are in Scotland.

While my husband and I are celebrating with a trip, our son is celebrating by running the PF Chang's half-marathon for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training.  We would be thrilled if you would donate to the cause of research for the treatment and cure for blood cancers.  Moral support is appreciated, too!

And last but not least, I want to thank all my Drool friends for the love, support, well wishes and prayers during that long summer of 2006.  I felt the power of healing drool and the love of the Basset community.
