You did not mention what kind of kibble or canned food you are  feeding.  I 
would be sure that neither contains corn, wheat, soy, or gluten  in any 
form--these can all cause digestive problems in some dogs.
Also, I think the probiotics are a very good idea, and I would also try  
plain yogurt--the kind with active bacteria.  You vet should be able to  
recommend some good probiotics.  I have had good success with 
"FortiFlora" which is made by Purina--it is specifically for the treatment  
of dogs with diarrhea.
