I too have a hugger. My Tucker stops me every morning in the hallway, 
sits up, and demands a hug.  And he really hugs.  He leans in and 
doesn't want me to stop hugging him.
He also purrs like a cat when he gets a belly or ear rub.  It's not a 
moan or mumble, but a purr. We always say he learned it from his cats 
that love  him.  He's truly a sweetheart.
My long-leggers do not like to be hugged. One does like to have my hold 
her paw.  She even "squeezes" my hand.
So never say never with your dogs!
