I have been a Drool member for less than a year. My first post was rejected because I attempted to spread the word about the rescue organization for which I volunteer. I was advised that I should be a member for a longer time before I mention my organization. I appreciated the constructive criticism and took no offense. We all have to learn to be less sensitive. I am proud to be a member of this group, although I am usually just a lurker. After I wrote a post saying that I envied everyone's closeness I received lovely personal emails from Linda, Leslie, and Val. I assume all three are moderators and I thank you all very much. I was recently swamped with work for a few days & managed to miss the post that so many people complained about. Now I am curious, but I guess happy that I missed it. Still, I feel sorry for the moderators who were apparently criticized by some and also for the poor person who submitted the post who probably had no idea that so many Droolers would be offended. Perhaps it was all worth it because I got a big laugh from the "erogenous" email.

One comment about dogs snapping at fingers to get treats. A trainer once told me always to offer treats in an open palm. If the treat is small enough, hold your hand up high in a fist to let the dog know it is there, tell the dog to sit, and then open your hand with the treat lying in the palm. That method really helped with Jackson. We got him when he was almost 4 and entirely wild and untrained; now he is somewhat wild and somewhat trained, perhaps as good as it gets with a stubborn basset.

Mom-slave to Mabel, Jackson, and not-a-basset Jack
