I have been there so many times over the years-I've outlived so many of my
furry companions.  I've observed others making the decision as to when to
euthanize their pets and, most of the time, made the decision for my pets.
I've heard my vet say that he wishes options were available for people
wanting to end their lives in a peaceful death before the ravages of disease
take them...

All I can say is: you do the best you can.  I know I've waited too long
keeping a dog with me.  I don't think I've ever had a dog euthanized before
quality of life was going to be very low for the animal.

It's a heartbreaking choice and responsibility.  Bless you for loving Xaxa
through the ending stages of life.
