Ben had a good dinner so he is able to send healing and comforting drool
to the beagle Annie that has cancer. Drool coming that she can be helped
and live many more years. Prayers on the way too for both Annie and her
slave mom.

Glad to hear that Shelby is starting to walk. Continued drool on the way
that Shelby continues to improve.

Would the person(s) who put together the Daily Drool desk calender
contact me off list?

I thought I ordered two but they haven't come.

It feels to me like an impossible task to choose one shelter over others as
the
most in need of winning the Shelter Challenge. How about we do something
similar
to what was done last go-around, only with a little twist. All shelters
wishing
to participate could submit their names to one coordinator. Perhaps this
could
be Leslie, since Montana benefitied from the last pooled votes. Then Leslie

could put all the names in a hat and draw one out, and we'd vote for that
shelter this go around. (Then the task of drawing out a name for the
subsequent
challenge could go to whomever we all vote for this go-around; and so forth
down
the line). That way a lot of needy shelters could all get an equal chance
at
Drool power. What do folks think?

I am just about fed up with people making comments about our animals. One
of our daughters keeps making snotty remarks about our dogs, for instance
"If you didn't want us to visit, you should just have said so. You didn't
have to get all these dogs to keep us away". Well, these dogs live here,
this is their home and if you don't want to be around them, then DON'T
COME. Our neighbors are looking into selling their home and buying another
one. The wife asked us yesterday, "are you going to get a lot more horses?
If so, we need to move quickly to sell our house" (boy, did I want to tell
her a thing or two). Now keep in mind, we live in the country on our own
64 acre farm. These people have their house and 14 acres. Before we put up
the fence, we asked them if they had any objections to the fence or the
horses. They said it was no problem. Well, now apparently it is a problem,
but you know what? It is their problem not ours, just like people who don't
want to be around our dog
 s. 99% of our animals are rescued. They bother no one and stay on our
property. They are well cared for. Our animals are our therapy. We have
them because we want them. We ask no one for any help (physical or
financial) to care for them. IT IS NONE OF THEIR D*** BUSINESS HOW MANY AND
WHAT KIND OF ANIMALS WE HAVE AND WHETHER WE GET ANY MORE!!!!
Phew. Thanks for letting me get that out of my system. I know my Drool
family understands. OK, now, Marlene, where are you? I need you to go off
on a few people for me!! (lol!).

Dear Daughter .. your father and I have missed you so terribly, we have
rescued or "adopted" another troubled, slobbering, hair everywhere, hound,
to remind us of you when you were growing up.. your terrible two's where
you
got into my make-up and smeared it everywhere is just like this one's poo
explosion. The time you brought in that "boy friend" of yours who smelled
like poo and looked tattered and torn in his hole-ridden blue jeans, is
just
like the squirrel our new basset brought in.. in short, in every way this
new basset reminds us of you every day. even though she dribbles water less
than you did in getting out of the shower and dripping everywhere .. the
way
she gets into the clothes hamper and strews things everywhere, reminding us
of your bedroom for the better part of your teen years ... the way she
whines for attention.. its amazing that everything we miss from you, is now
replaced by this bundle of love called a basset .. if you come home for a
visit we'll still make room for you.. but you'll have to sleep with your
twin (the hound) so be prepared . we've replaced what we missed from you by
this hound that loves us unconditionally .. maybe you'll be able to get her
to divulge her love secrets to you.. so you too can show us. your parents,
the ones who picked you up when you fell, who helped you into and through
college, who loved you unconditionally . the love and caring that should be
returned to us, for all the years we cared for you.

Love, Mom -n- Dad.

I think *that* is how the conversation should go. J Maybe then she'll
think
twice of griping that mommy & daddy don't love her no more..

J

Blaze (10 years old but not from Looziana Basset Rescue) and Sugar (8 years
old and from Looziana Basset Rescue) are possibly being left behind when
their current owner moves to Germany in less than two weeks. Ashely, the
adopter, called me two days ago and said that taking them with her to
Germany would be too traumatic. She said that she did not think that they
could handle the 10 hour plane flight. I told her that abandoning them
would be far more traumatic. I also asked her why she had waited until the
last minute to contact me. She said that she might leave them with her
petsitter. She did not indicate that she would be moving back to the US
anytime in the future. She said that she now has two young children and
Blaze doesn't really like kids. I have asked her to return Sugar to me.
Our contract requires this and, luckily, I am in possession of her signed
contract from 2004. She now says that she is taking the dogs with her. I
really don't believe her, though.
She just wants me to leave her alone. I have told her that I am not going
to leave her alone and I am now asking for copies of the paperwork showing
that she is taking Sugar with her - an international health certificate.
My husband is LBR's lawyer so he is advising me.
Bottom line....anyone in the Washington area have any suggestions for these
two dogs? They can be separated. I am happy to take Sugar back but if she
can be placed in Washington, that would be easier. This is all if Ashley
doesn't take them with her and if she agrees to give them up.
Lots of ifs.....just wanted to see if there is someone in the area that
might be able to help me. It is obvious that she no longer wants these two
bassets. She has replaced them with her two children.
Thanks, Leslie

Bonejour,

Firstly mega drool to those who have had to send a loved one to the
Bridge, and to those who are ailing.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to one and all - may 2011 be filled with treats, hugs,
bellyrubs ... etc etc :)))

Thanks for the reply, Wystanley Clan. As I said in my previous email
- I am a card collector so would be the last person to not want "real
cards" ! It was a thought, that's all.

However, there is ONE thing I would like to disagre on - "very
frugal" ! People obviously want to exchange cards and some budgets
are tighter than others. Several cards coming through in one enveloppe
is a great idea and enables people to participate who might not be
able to do so otherwise. A couple of years I also "doubled up" and
was VERY grateful. Nuff said.

I might be a bit dim but quite honestly I did not understand the tax
reference ??? When I donate to a charity it's for the pleasure of
giving and helping and annonymously if possible.

I am envious of you ! You already got 163 cards, I'm only at 149 snif
snif :))) However, I still have some faith in the postal services so
more are definitely on the way. btw, I haven't received yours yet!

Pw Penny and Pw Polly are wishing arhoooooooos to all their cyber pals

Hugs to ALL

Eleri, Pw P and Pw P (not forgetting DH, who never gets mentioned!!!)

Here in Brazil, sometimes when I walked Bertrand (before Consuelo arrived),
I heard people saying that the ears would make a good viennese steak or
should be placed in a "feijoada" (a typical brazilian stew made with black
beans and pork - some parts unmapped, as we read once (like ears and
tail)). So, I take good care not have them too near poor people.

Harold's numbers are up even more this morning so more
drool is needed to get this sweet boy over the hump. Please,
please ramp up production and add your prayers for Harold
and for his very, very worried momma.

Thanks,
Donna, drool fueler for Elmo, Gracie and Bosley
