[Dailydrool] Bassets and Dachshunds

Dachshunds are great dogs, and as hounds they have lots in common with
Bassets.  My advice would be to try to get either Standard or Tweenie
Dachshunds, they are harder to find but in my experience they tend to be
healthier than a lot of the Minis.  Minis are real popular right now and you
are seeing a lot of the inbreeding-overbreeding-backyard breeding problems
showing up.  Standard males are really fun, they are very zany dogs and can
give Bassets a run for the money on the personality scale.  The standards
and tweenies are also able to walk and keep up with the Bassets, and if they
poop out they are still small enough to pick up and carry home.  If one of
my Basset girls poops out (Gracie), we all sit down in the yard and wait.
No way am I going to try to carry that 60+ pound lug home.
