I love my Vet and I like the office staff and most of the people who work
there, and I worked there forever so I know how things are handled, and my
biggest gripe is that, despite the computers, IF THEY DONT WRITE DOWN WHAT
SHOTS THE DOG GOT it doesn't get recorded!!! ANd they don't always.
I have 4 dogs.
Each dog has a separate file.
Sometimes one file is not with the others because maybe we owe on that dog.
So I bring dog 2 in and because his file is in the bills file, they record
everything dog 2 gets in dog 3's file. So even though I go to great pains to
be sure they have the right file --dog 2's file for dog 2--- sometimes it
just doesn't happen. So here are the pundits telling me I don't need to get
my dogs vaccinated every year and the Village telling me it's ok to get 3 yr
rabies, but how accurate are the records? Has dog 2 HAD his rabies shot or
is it dog 3? Did 3 get TWO three year shots this year or was one for dog 2?
When did I last have dog 4 in for a chest rad? Last year? No, it's been
since the amputation and that was just before Thanksgiving, and I had one
done since then, THIS year. No, dog 1 has never had a chest rad, so the
chest rad for dog 1 really belongs to dog 4. Oh, dog 4's file was pulled for
that rad and never made it back up front?
The situation is getting better. However I think the real answer is to
get--as you are doing-- a printout every single time and keep your own
records at home. Unfortunately, for the time being, MY home kept records got
packed and stored when the house flooded,....

Make sure your Vet's office is recording the correct information in your
files.

MomPerson to Nigel(dog 1..or are you 3?) Llewis (Either 2 or 1) Conley
(definitely 3...or..) and Cooper (dog 4? How did dog 1 get to be dog 4??)
