[Dailydrool] Urgent - how long do i wait for the pred to work?

well...droopy is fully down in the rear.  he responds to strong
pinches/pain, but can not use his feet or his back legs.  the vet indicated
it is likely a disc issue so we were started on 20 mg pred 2 times a day
yesterday.  he had one last night and one this morning.  i have seen no
improvement.  it is absolutely breaking my heart to see him like this.  i
have made an appointment with the vet for tomorrow.

droopy is 13 and i will not put him through major back surgery at this point
in his life.

how long do i wait for the pred to work?  have i not given it sufficient
time to help him?  i don't want him in pain.  he has had a good long life,
but i don't want to rob him of a chance to get better with the meds, nor do
i want to prolong his discomfor/frustration.  this is absolutely breaking my
heart.  i have never been in this position and i feel damned if i do, damned
if i don't.  i can't figure out if i'm being selfish or what. any advice is
appreciated.
