I agree with Bev. None of my bassets have tracking titles but they all have searched and found things for me from baby birds to our elderly cat who manages to get herself shut in the neighbors chicken coop every once in a while. I even used them to "go find" one of my bassets that went missing before we had the property fully fenced. They are great trackers. I've even sent them to find the Dadslave for me since he is too deaf anymore to hear me calling for him. This is a very useful "talent".

We have California quail that come into our yard in flocks. Megan, our weimaraner points them as soon as she sees them. The bassets follow their scent and once they located them they would bark. After they saw Megan point them for a while the next thing I knew they were pointing the quail too once they had sniffed them out. I call this stance "stealth basset mode".
