Hi Droolers - Don't write much but read all the time. Now I need some ideas
for my 14 yr old Barney, my big boy. He has Cushing's and is on Lysodren500
twice a week. He also is weak behind - but once up on 4 paws gets around
very well. Sometimes I help him, but most times he manages on his own -
especially when the old snooter kicks in. The biggest problem is lack of
poop control.
He doesn't have the runs, but the substance is very soft and it just slips
out whether he is awake or asleep. He sometimes "goes" 4-5 times a day. A
Drooler suggested Metamucil which he gets twice a day. I use capsules, 1 in
am and 2 in pm. I also have been feeding him only boiled chicken and rice
with a very rare treat.
I am worried that he is not getting the balanced nutrition he needs, and am
looking for help in that area. Also if anyone has any ideas on how to help
with the poop problem I sure could use some.
I've talked with his vet,and she seems to think it is close to his "time",
but as long as he keeps eating and getting around and being my best boy, his
time is extended. Droolers all face this heartache sooner or later so you
understand.
Every time I look into that sweet face with those big eyes, I am reminded of
all the houndies that have crossed the bridge, always too soon. Barney's not
yet ready, and each day is precious.

Judi
Barney - I love my Mommy.
Tucker - I love my Mommy too, but I really love my Dad.
