[Dailydrool] Sweet Teddy ATB

This morning I had to let Teddy go. He had developed glaucoma and because of
his age and heart issues and possible other issues we could not quite put
our finger on, it became obvious over the past few days that hanging on only
meant more suffering.

I adopted Teddy a little over 8 years ago from Ohio Basset Rescue. I was not
sure of his age.  I named him for my Uncle Ted, but admittedly also for Ted
Kennedy (Theodore Edward Dog, aka TED). Teddy has filled my life with his
gentle spirit.  He has helped me in my own battle with illness in the past 6
months which I can only hope did not contribute to his own stress and weaken
him. He has been my protector and my velcro boy. I will miss him terribly
but it comforts me to know that I was able to give him the love and the kind
of life that he deserved, and that in the end I could deliver him from his
suffering.

Early this morning he got into bed with me - a little last gift - and I sang
him his song (“You are my sunshine”) and kissed him a nickzillion times for
all of his aunties and friends who have known and loved him.

I am so sorry for the loss of Pat Dill, a wonderful, kind, generous person
clearly taken too soon, and I pray for the recovery of Sandi’s Pat.

Light a candle for my Sweet Teddy again running free with Annie.
