Ramps. One word. Ramps. We have a ramp to the couch. One for the bed for when we have a hound that likes to go there. Long expandable ramp for he slave's big buv. Folding one for my little suv.

A year ago today I took rusty to dietz and Watson in Philadelphia. He was there for a photo shoot. I lifted him in at home. He got out nicely and was a good boy for the photo shoot. The dietz and Watson folks rewarded him with cold cuts. I walked out to my car with him, said good bye to the people with us and tried to lift his front paws the 12 inches or so to the back of my grand vitara. As folks who know Rusty will tell you, you do not ask him to do what he does not want to do. He will eat you. I spent an hour in the rain trying to talk him into getting in. Finally, a nice man came and we went to the back of the big plant and got a piece of sheet metal to use as a ramp. Too short. Rusty did not buy it. The man walked him to the truck loading zone. I pulled around and backed up. He lifted rusty on the platform to level with the car. Rust refused to get in until we put the metal as a bridge of the two inch gap. Then he walked in and curled up.

Soon after I bought my own ramp. While I know handy people make them, I am a fan of Pet Gear. They make long ones, short ones, folding ones, van ones. Compare prices. Mr Gear, seriously that is his name, makes a terrific product and is very nice.
