Our Lola is short and yes, chubby.  Not a good combination for heights.  We got
tired and well, my back got realllllly tired of lifting her on to the couch and
bed, so we also bought a 2 step stair for the couch and a 5 step stair for the
bed.  She loves her little stairs and we get a kick out of how she walks up with
with great attitude like - nothing will stop her now!  :)  We tried the ramp but
the dogs want nothing to do with it, not even for getting in the van.  So, I
take the 2 step stair with us and Lola uses them to get into the van.

Before Lola, our Lady also had a hard time getting into the van.  She was fine
with the couch and bed.  Someone designed a 'lady lift' for her since Lady was
able to put her 2 front paws inside the van but not jump in.  The 'lady lift'
was put around her back end so a strap was on the left side, right side and
between her back legs.  Then, all I had to do was bring the straps together on
top and lift her back in.  It was so simple and easy that I could almost do it
with 1 hand if I needed to.

Lola does have a 'lola life' too, but she is so low to the ground that by the
time I put it on her, my back is already hurting so I may as well just lift
her.  Thus, the stairs are great for her.  I bought the 2 step stair brand new
on Ebay for $19. with free shipping.

Hope this helps,

Kirsten
