mr cooper the bassetter was english setter & basset...he looked as though dr seuss himself constructed him...his head was actually as mix of both breeds...too wide for a setter but not really a basset.  the body was setter, the legs..oh so basset.  short & stumpy.  the tail..setter all the way!  it was like a flag..magnificent!  waving behind him..i dare say it was better than most setter tails.  it would curve up behind his back & the feathering was great.  as was the feathering on those stumpy little legs.

he had the hunting traits of both breeds too..he could sit for hours waiting for his groundhogs (or mice  & chipmunks) in a pinch..& then once spotted he would run screaming off after them.  people at the dog park would think he was a statue because he sat with perfect posture for hours waiting for the groundhogs to come under the fence into the park.

he was the most gentle dog you could ever find tho...with an affinity for squeaky toys & children & those with special needs.

but oh did he look different...he got me into bassets..(i was with an english setter rescue...& i just had to see him)...& the rest as they say is history.
