I'm sorry.. but "outside" ... ok.. maybe its a distance.. but really.. if you're within ear shot of the hounds.. the moment one starts it.. isn't it distinct to you?

I can tell all three of mine from their barks and their howls (if heard clearly) Its amazing to the "non dog" person when they visit.. i'm like the Amazing Kreskin or something... that I can tell from the howl or the bark, or the various other sounds with great certainty which dog is doing what..

LOL

Henry's my crinkle king.. if its got celophane (think envlopes with those see through windows) or just plain paper ....

Henry's also the one that gets dominated upon by Riley.. so when he does "that" growl snap bark ... I yell RILEY STOP IT ...

and when I hear that distinct "resource is mine" growl I know its usually Franklin .. and I better check it out.. cause *ONLY* franklin loves to have the unique items.. dead things, food that he shouldn't have.. etc..

We have discussed Bell Hounds before-- the hound that starts the howling. I have often wondered who my Bell hound was, since I am usually outside the house when the howling starts, but over the winter I found out.
