Absolutely, under no circumstances do any of the dogs in this house get
pizza bones. Pierre is allergic to the wheat in the flour. Because of
Pierre's allergy to grass, we keep it as short as possible without killing
it completely. My husband keeps telling me I've emasculated my dog because I
put sports bras on him. I think he looks adorable, but that's another story.
The problem we have the most is the allergy to dust mites. I have changed
over to a home cooked meal for him. The other babies are still on NOW!, but
Izzy and LaBelle will eventually be changed over to the home cooked meal as
well-not because of allergies but because I know what I put into it so trust
it more. Elke will be on NOW! until we get her weight under control. She has
severe arthritis in both rear hips and rear knees. We are having major
issues with her dragging her backend that may include the possible use of a
cart. She has no back problems-had that checked and also got a second
opinion on everything. She's not getting any better and we've even done some
experimental meds just to try and help her. Already tried the cortisone
shots-nothing. I think the problem is linked to her almost dying from Parvo
as a baby. Since it affects the bone marrow in some cases, it may have
stunted her legs' growth which is contributing to her problems. Right now,
she hardly even wants to eat, which is an indication that her pain is out of
control. My DH is considering "quality of life." I keep telling him he's
nuts and we can figure this out. This is his little girl. She's on 50 - 100
mg of Tramadol twice daily (already checked liver values and will keep
checking them) as well as Previcox. We will find a way to save her and give
her mobility, though.
