Separation anxiety problems are usually seen in the first 30 minutes after
an owner leaves, and the 30 minutes prior to regular returns.  It sounds
like this may be his problem.  Inappropriate elimination is one of the
symptoms, and if he is that anxious, it may be his problem.  Don't be mad!
Your dog may be VERY scared, and if so, he can't control himself!  

Patricia McConnell has a wonderful (and short) booklet on identifying and
dealing with this problem, and describes it as one with a high success rate
