Rolph does like to be the centre of everything. When I am there, and he feels he doesn't have my 100 per cent attention, he finds something naughty to do.

Last night I walked into my bedroom, after having been in my girls' room (where the dogs are not allowed) for ten minutes.

And there, on the floor, in many pieces, was the plastic folder which contained my mother's airplane ticket and passport, ready for her trip to see my sister later this year.

I had left it on my bedside table, on top of a box so I didn't lose/forget it. There was not food in or near it. How did he know it was valuable?

More to the point, how do I tell my mother?
