[Dailydrool] Size of a basset

I always thought Speedy was small for a basset. He weighs in at 48 and he's on the almost sightly plump size. The vet thinks his ideal weight is 45 which seems awfully skinny to me. All the bassets I've seen are about 55+ when we attend the basset olympics or the basset picinics. He was also neutered at 5 yrs old (maybe 6 we are still debating his really age). 
When we got Shelby we got her at 38 lbs and quickly gained about 8 by the time she moved. To me her ideal weight would be about 60 which again to me is a normal basset size.
