To keep Ada from having free reign in the house, have you thought of using an ex-pen? You can have one that's larger than a crate, so it allows her to move around, but it will keep her from ruining your domain.

I always worry about having a dog tied up. So many ways that she could hurt herself by wrapping herself up in the lead or getting otherwise entangled. And of course dragging a table isn't exactly the safest activity.

Is Ada getting enough exercise each day? A tired hound is a happy one--and less likely to get in trouble too. She may be older, but if she's energetic and bored, you will have trouble. If she's been tied to the table for long spells, she's not getting much exercise.

Sounds as if you have your hands full there. I hope these ideas help.
