I just wanted to give a huge thank you to all of you that sent me messages
of condolences for my Kipper. I have tried to respond to each and every
one, but if I missed anyone, I am sorry. You folks on the daily drool are
extremely special people and I appreciate every one!

Kipper was a special basset - a very gentle soul - and I am trying to take
comfort in the fact that she is safe at the bridge with all who have gone
before.

On a side note - I know a few of you have made comments about Kipper being
on a retractable leash. Just let me clarify, that the retractable leash was
not used at any time for going on walks. It was only used in our yard (that
is not fenced in unfortunately) when she went out to potty. We always
retracted it and locked it at full length; would sit on the ground and just
hold it while she roamed around the yard and did her business. The school
children making noise that day spooked her and my husband just simply lost
his grip which could have happened with a normal leash as well. I agree
with all of you that using them to go on walks or at dog parks is definitely
not a good thing. Just wanted to let you guys know the circumstances.

Anyway, thanks to all of you for your drool, your love and understanding and
your caring. My husband and I appreciate it more than I can say.
