Not only do I agree wholeheartedly with Lisa but if your dog is the least
bit fearful this is going to make him much worse. My limited experience
suggests that a good portion of biting dogs are afraid. They attack because
a good offense is the best defense, and they are terrified. A dog that has
been attacked by other dogs as a youngster, or during a fear period may be
profoundly traumatized and forever changed by that experience.

(8-11 weeks
6-14 months are the primary fear periods)
See http://www.diamondsintheruff.com/DevelopmentalStages.html for better
details.

My point is you may be taking an already traumatized or highly fearful dog
and doing something that any dog would normally interpret as a full frontal
attack. DOgs don't say "Please stop."
Dogs bite.
And in fear for their lives, they REALLY bite.

I would suggest anyone dealing with an aggression issue at least consult a
behaviorist. It helps to know what triggers the behavior if you want to
extinguish it.
Be very very careful and keep your face well away.
