[Dailydrool] Well, here's an odd question

Aloha all. I have an odd question/problem for which I am looking for solutions. My angelic hound, Harley (as opposed to his stubborn, make you pull your hair out houndie brother, Bo), is a gentlehound who follows the letter of the law, but not the spirit of same. Harley dutifully pees outside. That is, he goes to the doggie door, steps his front half through the door to raise the flap, lifts his leg, and pees through the doggie door onto the threshhold in front of the door. Our house is not fancy. The threshhold is linoleum tile. Now it is peeling up from Harley's pee assaults. I wipe it down and disinfect the area regularly, but this is not solving the curling up of the linoleum problem.

So, what do you think? I've had several ideas. There is the minimize further damage idea--fold a towel in front of the doggie door and throw it in the washer every day (though that's more laundry doing than I'd prefer); or the more radical idea--replace the threshhold/top "step". If so, any thoughts as to with what/ what would be the least porous? A slab of marble or granite? (that would way over-class our humble abode, but hey--). Ceramic tile or slate (wouldn't the grout soak up essence of Harley?). Of course there would be pushing Harley all the way through the door too, but I don't always catch him.

So I would love Drooler input. Thanx. Val
