[Dailydrool] Fleas and Frontline

Some fleas are resistent to Frontline. I say this in spite of what Merial
says on their customer service spiel. I believe this absolutely, and my Vet
has told me this, and my friend McBeth who is a Vet has told me this and the
Groomers as well. Plus, now is the time of year when the fleas are looking
for a warm place to spend their winter. Like snowbirds, they seek out the
flea equivalent of Florida: Your dog.
If you live in Florida, then there is no season to kill them as there is
here, and your problem is worse. Try an alternative flea preventative next
month. You have to wait-- you cannot put two different products on at the
same time but I am pretty sure you know that.
In the meantime, just before you try a new product give the dogs a Capstar.
Expensive little thing, but it will immediately-- and I do mean that-- kill
any fleas on your dog at that moment, so the new product needs to be one
that kills not only adults but eggs and larvae (or whatever the lifecycle of
the little monsters is) also.
It has been a very itchy, twitchy year. Capstar will give the other flea
preventative a kick-start.
Lotsa spiders up here, too. Not just the big, beautiful orb-weavers but the
nickle-sized Wolf spiders that can deliver a real whomping bite: COnley
tracks them if he sees them.
They like our bath tub, please do not ask I do not know.
