Congratuations! This may not be a lot of advice but it brings to mind our
experiences a while back.

4 years ago today my friend, Beth Vogel and I adopted a pair of littermates
from a puppymill situation in Northern Ohio.

Happy Gotcha Day, Izzy and Rudy! (June 24 on the DD calendar this past
year)

Beth took Izzy home and I kept Rudy.

Beth had Teddy at home, who was suffering from the loss of his precious Pw
Annie. I think he welcomed Izzy pretty easily. He probably had to draw the
line of demanding respect a few times, I am sure.

I brought Rudy home with me and her majesty...10 yr old Pw LilyGurl, who
very clearly thought I had lost my mine and very clearly gave Rudy the cold
shoulder ...for about a year and a half.

Lily was pretty frosty with him until he mistakenly thought she was a
portable dairy bar! Then she thawed out reallll fast! In fact she lit up
like a firecracker and Rudy got the message...at least for a while.

Then he tried to pay her homage by bathing her everyday. By the time she
was 12 1/2 she would allow him to lay along side of her as long as he did
not touch. Rudy was so proud of himself! He thought he was so cool! She
thought he was a pain in the rump but as long as he minded her rules they
got along.

The pwincess died last summer and by then Rudy knew she was first in all
things and he always seemed to respect that except once in a while when his
'little boy puppy brain' got over taxed.

We got some very good advice from our dear friend Junie, who always says
give the older one lots of extra love and attention..just as you would with
an older child and a new baby coming into your home.

So in honor of their Gotcha Day...we wish you the very best success and lots
of happiness and fun times

Pat
