[Dailydrool] the subject of ticks

Since  droolers are on the subject of ticks I have to ask if anyone has had experience with the tick medicines that you can now purchase without your vets Rx?  I am worried its not the same stuff.  The ticks here in the East are ferocious, and a recent news article said this summer promises to be a doozy.  My almost 8 yr old just got diagnosed as  being a carrier of a tick borne disease, he is asymptomatic, but we watch closely for signs.  I am devastated, I am so scared something will happen to him.  I feel like a mother who is walking on egg shellls.  Has anyone had any experience with the OTC tick meds?
Also, I've begun using organic rose geranium oil on their collars just last weekend, stay tuned for an update.
