[Dailydrool] Dan the Man

The Drool worked! Rather than take Dan to a specialist, I discussed options with my vet. He felt like we should take a piece of the mass tissue and send it off for pathology. The previous fine needle aspiration had come back with "suspicious cells but indefinite". He had his surgery Monday and the results came back as inflammatory tissue, NOT cancer! We start a round of high dose prednisone tonight to see if we can shrink the mass. The vet described it as large and embedded in the surrounding tissues. In the neck that means a surgical mess. I think we'll have to go to a specialist for that. I've been a wreck all week just waiting for the results. I still don't think I like this but at least we know it's not cancer so it's probably not spread anywhere else. On another note, before this started, I had been looking around for a young Basset to take over all Dan's responsibilities in the obedience ring. I wanted a puppy that I could train from
 the start as all my dogs have been rescues over the age of 2. I met someone who is a conformation breeder and she had a 15 month old male she wasn't going to show. So......welcome Ricky to the White House Gang. He's not well socialized so we're working on that. I had forgotten how wild the young ones are! I think he might be an OEBE antender at some point.
