I've been cooking for our gang for about a year now. Mollie the Bloodhound, Otter and Radar the Bassets eat 3 meals a day. It's hard at first but once you get a system that works for you it gets easier. We did have to buy another fridge for their food. I joined a yahoo group run by Monica Segal called K9Kichen. She is the author of K9 Kitchen Your Dog's Diet: The Truth Behind the Hype and Optimal Nutrition. Great books and a very supportive group. Lots of info on home cooking and raw diets. They don't give generic diets but do give guidelines on how to formulate a balanced diet. I have contracted with her to do two diet plans for me. I know she does a lot of specialized diets for dogs. I don't think she charged too much considering the contact, support and info she provides. Check out her website, www.monicasegal.com. 
I could tell you how I feed our dogs but with you needing a specific kidney diet I really think you should check out the group.
