I have no doubt that our basset Alexis was a lemon and white. She had a very light tan fur that was very different. Even though she showed up as being red in photos, in life she clearly was not.

We are about to adopt Holly, and I was looking at her paperwork. She is listed as a lemon and white, but to me she is a strawberry blond, and I would call her a red and white.

Now I know that you can surely identify a lemon when it is born, because it's born all white. But I'm pretty sure Holly was a puppymill dog. I doubt if they knew what color she was at birth. They might have thought they could get more for a lemon, and just called her that. So is a strawberry blond basset considered lemon or red? I'd like to know it from the experts--so that means going to the Drool.
