[Dailydrool] Amish Puppies and Kennel Cough

This sounds like Kennel Cough and it sounds as if the Vet is treating it
accordingly. Do not take your dog off the cough medicine for another week
or so. KK is generally self-limiting and it is not the same in each puppy.
It is also HIGHLY contagious to your other dogs.
It generally lasts about 3 weeks, getting worse before it gets better.
Sometimes puppies will develop pneumonia, which is why the Vet is paying so
much attention to what he hears in the lungs. Because one puppy gets really
sick does not mean both will: it depends entirely on the immune system of
each puppy.
There is a vaccine for this but there are so many strains of it that it
often only keeps the puppy from getting really sick with it.
Generally it is an annoying but fairly harmless puppy thing. Not always,
but usually.
