Oh interesting. My neighbors dog does this. The first time I saw it I found him loose and unattended in our garage. It's a dog friendly neighborhood and he is a sweetheart so I said very happily "hi Guiness" and he sword me all his teeth. I freaked out because he is huge and ran inside. My husband told me I was being ridiculous and that Guiness "grins"

He does too. We took him home and his mom said "yeah it's the weirdest thing he grins when he is really happy just like a person".

It sure looks fierce but there is no growl and no hackles raised and the tail is wagging as is the whole butt

Does your big sweet boy grin maybe?

I saw no reason for this so I stood my ground and firmly him "No" and he slowly calmed down. I have never punished him (seems to catch on and listen well) but I don't want this type behavior (bearing of teeth) to escalate. How can I reprimand him to let him know that this is not acceptable? He's a big boy (65-70lbs) confident and kind personality with people. Thank you. Lisa
