Today was a joyous time for us.  "Corkery's Strike It Rich" came home.  We have changed Ellie's name to Patsy in honour of the wondrous Patsy Cline.  From all accounts, The Cline, as she called herself, was a little bossy, a little brash and one great, big voice(remarkably like our new sweetheart).

Patsy is not a rescuebut, rather, a re-home.  She is sixyears old, confident, ebullient and loving.  She was bred and owned by Deirdre McKinnon, Corkery Bassets, of Prince Edward Island.  Patsy has far better breeding than Paul and I put together (namely because we have none) and is both a US and Canadian champion.  I thought I would be overwhelmed by her ultra-long ears, her short little legs and her gigantic paws but I find myself, rather, enchanted by her extraordinary sweetness and her good intelligence.

No dog can ever replace our late and well-loved Flash but we are hoping that Patsy's easy-going nature will bring Wilma 'round to her old level of happiness.  Paul and I have already fallen head over heels in love with her.

Our sincere thanks to Deirdre McKinnon for entrusting Patsy to us.  Genetics has played a huge role, of course, but Deirdre taught her well and, most importantly, loved her.  It is now our turn.
