I just wanted to write and tell everyone THANK YOU for the huge amount of support, the beautiful e-cards and lovely notes everyone sent with the passing of our Gert (Gerty Girl).  I appreciate it so much and it really has helped us through the week.  

We had another Basset Hound, Stan that went to the bridge on 5/22/10 and ever since then Gert had been so lonely and I know she had to be missing her friend.  I hope that the two of them are together now!

Gert left behind a little sister, a miniature English Bulldog, Phyllis.  After Gert died Phyllis wouldn't eat and was very sad.  We brought home a puppy this week, a French Bulldog, Norman.  Now Phyllis is a happy girl again!  We were really torn on what kind of puppy to get and our house is so different without a Basset Hound...it feels so wrong not to have one but I felt like getting one right now was like I was trying to replace Gert...I have to believe that it won't be long and we will have 3 dogs again, we can't be without a Basset Hound, it just doesn't feel right, not at all!
